Happy Birthday Lindsay!

Cousin Lindsay had her 1st birthday party yesterday and everyone had a great time. I can't believe it's already been a year. These photos were taken 7 months ago and she's just as cute now as she was then.
Sherman and Danielle got Lindsay her own cake, and she really enjoyed playing with it, until she discovered how good it tasted.
After her first bite, her expression seemed to say "Why have you guys been holding out on me for?!?! Forget baby food, I want cake for breakfast, lunch, AND dinner!"
Kristin had a great time at the party with all these 'new to her' toys.
She pretended to shelter Kayla from the rain with an umbrella, which was actually a top.
Kristin even made a new friend, Brady.
Kristin was sad when he had to go and gave him a big hug.
She was even more sad when we had to go home, but there's always next year to look forward to.

Standing

Kayla loves to stand on her feet. When we try to sit her down, she gets fussy and either wants to be held or stand on her own.

While Kayla stands, Kristin gets busy with her buttons.......

Relief

Kayla has the funniest expressions when she poops. You can kind of tell when shes about to go, as she starts grunting and gets fidgety, but her face still looks normal.

Then the funny faces come.....

Ahhhhh, relief.

There were ten in a bed and the little one said, "Roll over, roll over." So they all rolled over and one fell out.

Kayla reached another milestone today, she rolled over all by herself. Not sure how she learned, since we rarely put her on her stomach. It was so funny to watch, she kind of just did it automatically.

Buttons

Lately, Kristin has had this fascination with buttons. She'll be playing with her toys and all of the sudden there will be silence. I glance over to see what she's doing, and she's un-buttoning all her buttons on her shirt, or the buttons on our comforter cover. Well, now she's moved on to Kayla. Luckily she buttons everything back up.

I can tell Kayla really looks up to Kristin.

Christmas Eve

We spent Christmas eve at my brothers house in San Francisco this year. They have the cutest (soon to be) one year old daughter, Lindsay.

Here's Lindsay and Kristin in front of their tree.

She's so adorable : )

This was Lindsay from less than a year ago. Time sure flies.

Kayla is so friendly right now, she hasn't developed an attachment to anyone yet. She enjoys playing with everyone, and luckily my dad had enough energy to keep her entertained.

Auntie Danielle and Uncle Sherman knew exactly what Kristin wanted this year. "Cars" is her favorite movie, and she loves anything related to "Cars". You can imagine how happy she was when she got this great gift.

To top it off, she even got to eat pie!

Christmas Day

Kayla woke up early, so while we waited for Kristin to get up, I took some shots of this little snowman:

This was Kristin after she woke up and we told her Santa left some presents for her in her stocking. Her expression was priceless.

Here she is with her favorite cars.

Sally is her favorite out of all the cars.

I think she was pretty happy this year.

Baby Kyle

ummm, I mean Kayla. We always get asked, "oh, how old is he?" This is when she's wearing all pink, as girly as can be. I guess she does look like a boy. Selina and I have nicknamed her Baby Kyle.

2 days til Christmas

Big K stayed home today since the pre-school was closing at 1pm. She woke up at 10am, then proceeded to eat breakfast. Organic pop tarts from Trader Joe's, and Ovaltine. I think she really liked the pop tarts.

After breakfast, she decided to make a snowman out of her bouncy balls.

Then she thought it would be fun to jump directly on to the balls..... while still on top of the sofa. She's just asking for trouble....

Homework

We've been trying to get Kristin in the habit of doing a little 'homework' after she comes home from preschool. She's getting pretty good with pens/markers and tracing letters. She kept saying "E, I, N, O" for some reason, so I had her trace those letters.

I think there was a subliminal message in her homework. I'm always saying "NO Kristin, stop jumping on the bed", or "NO Kristin, stop climbing on the edge of the sofa!"

Shots.

Kayla didn't get her 4 month shots last week due to her running a fever. I brought her in this morning and she did great, only cried for a few seconds. She got a total of three shots, 2 on the left, one on the right.

She was pretty cheerful the rest of the day

"Hey Kayla, you have more shots in 8 weeks."

"Oh no!"

These boots were made for walking...

Walking all over the wet grass that is. Kristin always enjoys going out to the backyard, playing with oranges from the orange tree, and picking up leaves and making leaf piles.

Kayla prefers staying inside, all bundled up like an Eskimo.

Of course Kristin had to have her picture taken too after seeing me taking all these shots of Kayla.
