Shedding

me: "Hey Kayla, can I have a kiss?"
She turns and gives me the back of head and pushes it onto my face.
me: "I want to kiss your cheek Kayla, not the back of your head!"
Kayla: "But you are pokey!" (referring to my morning stubble)
me: "I'm not pokey, come on, give me your cheek to kiss."
Kayla: "Why are you not pokey? Did you shed? I'll let you kiss me if you shedded."

  9. Thanks for the kind words all : )

Kevin, I left a response on the fb page, but I'll add it here too. There are a few ways to do this. You can shoot the lowest power possible on your flash. Use additional layers of diffusion on your light modifier. Use ND filters on your lens. Or in this case, I used the new Pocket Wizard TT5's which allow me to use HSS and sync at 1/8000th of a second. Hope that helps.

    Ari K, I used a 35mm for the 1st 2, and an 85 for the last.

I love your blog, the pictures, your creativity and of course your sweet girls! I have three boys (now 13, 11 and 5.5) and like to take funny pics of them, too...your "shedding" story reminded me of my middle son, Manoah...when he was about 5. We were walking through a store when Manoah spotted a Wilkinson razor-display shelf, calling out "Mom, look - there are the peelers!" :-)
