Dance recital

This little lady had another dance performance on the weekend. Got all dressed up, make up done, for her 3 minutes of fame on stage.

I can't believe she doesn't have the slightest stage fright, whether it be in the classroom, or on stage. When I was her age, I'd be super nervous when doing anything in front of an audience.

I love her look of concentration on this shot, so serious, lol.

She really doesn't need that make-up.

  8. Beautifully photographed. I like how you use the clouds as a backdrop.

  9. Love the DOF on these shots! Did you use an ND filter?

  10. Thanks all :)

Antonia, I'm not a big fan of the make-up either, but they asked the parents to put on make-up for the performance. Add to that, my wife just had to pick the brightest and reddest one they had.

Wayne, yep, I used ND4, ND8, and a circular polarizer.

These are beautiful pictures! I was wondering could you tell us how you got the focus so clear on the rocks right at her feet but blurry in the foreground and background. Thanks

    What lens? 85mm 1.4?

    ReplyDelete
  27. LOL @ Tish, JAZZ HANDS!

Mastering the Chaos/pcphotography / Anonymous, I used a 85 1.4, mostly shot near wide open for shallow DOF.

Jason, your photos are fantastic! Love your creativity. What was your light source? It looks like maybe a very large softbox? Looking forward to seeing more of your photos!

That's stage make-up... the purpose is to keep beautiful little girls from looking like ghosts onstage... even boys would need some make-up for that...
