Just a few more minutes.....

Waking up for school, trying to squeeze in those last few minutes of sleep. I still feel that way. Every day.
Kristin turns 9 years old today, and sorry, you don't get to sleep in, even on your birthday.

It has been a busy few months, traveling across the Pacific to visit relatives, soccer, a quick visit to Disneyland, and the start of school. It was the first time the K's visited Hong Kong, and unfortunately it was a short trip, 4 days to be exact. With the time difference of -15 hours, they never got fully adjusted and ended up waking up super early, and falling asleep in the afternoons.

302

301

Every morning around 5 AM, Kayla would wake up. I was able to see some amazing sunrises thanks to her.

303

304

305

307

We were able to squeeze in some sight seeing, and went to the Peak.

309

Attempted to take some pictures with their younger cousins.

310

If there is a playground, they will play, regardless of what country they are in.

311

312

313

Saw this awesome home? from the top of the Peak.

314

315

We took a ferry ride. Some amazing views from the sea.

316

317

318

Selina made the mistake of showing them the hotel pool the first day we were there. They then proceeded to ask to go swimming everyday after that. Kayla was always the first to be ready to go swimming.

320

321

322

A few weeks after Hong Kong, we did a quick trip to Disneyland with our awesome friends from New York, Vanessa and Justin.

331

332

333

Best part of the trip was definitely the Cars ride. You can see Kristin grabbing on to Vanessa, and Kayla is grabbing on to me. After that ride, I don't think they will want to go on another roller coaster for a while.

334

335

336

The amount of detail they put into the rides is amazing. I really liked the little mermaid ride.

337

338

339

340

Best part of Disneyland for Kayla, definitely the cotton candy.

341

342

Oh, and meeting Dale, which they thought were part of Alvin and the Chipmunks.

343

Kristin ran for school treasurer...she didn't win, but at least she tried :)

Six

What a wonderful 6 years it has been. 6 years of watching her grow. 6 years of developing a priceless bond with her sister. 6 years of ups and downs, but most of all, 6 years of pure joy. Kayla has taught me more in 6 years than I could have ever imagined. Thank you Kayla, and Happy (belated) Birthday.

When we asked her what she wanted to do for her birthday.......pick fruits of course! With temperatures in the low 100's, we started our day picking peaches.

01

She needed a few taste tests to make sure they were sweet.

02

03

Yup, sweet sweet sweet.

04

05

06

The peaches weren't the largest, but they sure were juicy and delicious!

07

08

10

On to the next farm!

11

12

13

She really loves her watermelon.

14

After a while, Kayla couldn't deal with the heat, and headed for the nearest shade. Kristin on the other hand, stayed out in the sun to pick one of her favorite fruits.

15

16

She was so happy, even in the heat. She almost never sweats, and she had beads and beads of sweat all over her face. Didn't seem to phase her at all.

17

Kayla took the easy route and just bought some of the pre-picked fruit.

18

After picking fruits, she got her nails done.

19

Best part of her day was when she opened her presents. She's a big Alvin and the Chipmunks fan, so Selina got her a few to add to her growing collection. She even invited them to dinner.

20

I got suckered into impulse buying this thing for her. She's doing it wrong, but at least she's happy.

21

Kayla is not a big fan of cake, so I improvised and made one with the fruits she picked that day. I've never seen a child so happy with a bowl of fruit.

22

Happy 6th Birthday little munchkin. This is how I will remember you on your birthday. Right out of bed, carrying your favorite chipmunk, and wearing your mothers t-shirt, a few sizes too big.

39 lbs

I got this card from the K's for fathers day. So sweet of them :)

0147

Kristin made me a new macbook, complete with charger.

0148

Kayla made this awesome card that is supposed to be a shirt. Apparently I weigh 39 lbs, enjoy eating spaghetti, watching TV, taking pictures of them, and I'm special at making Kayla famous.

0149

Kristin also made this hand print for me. Now I can always have a high five from her at anytime.

0150

Best part of fathers day. nom, nom, nom.

Summer has officially started.....

.....kicked off by the last day of school, and these two couldn't be happier.

last day of school

Can't believe it's on to 1st grade for Kayla and 4th grade for Kristin already. I still remember taking this at the start of the school year just 2 years ago. Can't believe how much they both have grown (and how dark Kristin got).

Happy Mothers Day!

The kids gave Selina the best Mothers Day gift a mom could wish for.
They hit the mute button and let her sleep in for a morning.

Kayla made a little portrait book for Selina.

I particularly like how her hair magically changes colors and styles over the course of 9 months (click to see full size).
02 copy

Kristin made Selina a craft of some sort, and I couldn't figure out what it was until she told me.
05 copy

If you can figure it out, you get an internet high five from me (hover over the image for the answer)

You are drawing CRAZY for Kayla L

Yup, pretty spot on for crazy. Who else has spent countless hours on Draw Something (raises hand)?

You are drawing CRAZY-2

Life has been crazy. Kristin still loves soccer, has a shiny new uniform and everything.

116

113

Kayla, well she enjoys pretending to be Taylor Swift.

115

114

And piano. She LOVES playing piano. She's not too shabby.
